South Africa and Guinea will face off in a must-win clash at Namboole for the TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championships (CHAN).

Bafana Bafana played Algeria to a draw of 1-1 in the tournament opener. They now face a team desperate to win after losing 3-0 to Uganda in their previous match despite beating Niger 1-0 in their first game.

Molefi NTSEKI, the head coach of South Africa’s national team, was impressed with the performance of his team in the draw against Algeria. However, he knows that only victory can give them a chance to progress.

Ntseki said, “The first match served as an icebreaker and we achieved that goal.” The performance against a strong team was on the right level. We are now in fourth position in the group with only one point and we know that we need to improve in our next match,” he said.

Ntseki knows that his team needs to perform at its best in order to win the match.

Souleymane Camara, the Guinea coach, has warned South Africa that his team will not be beaten.

“I think tomorrow’s match is one that can be won,” the Guinea coach said. The Guinea coach stated, “I am responsible for my team and remind them that they can win.”

“I believe that they have recovered. We’ve had time to rest.” The fact that we have lost does not take away our hopes. “Our goal is still alive.”

Algeria is currently leading the rankings with 4 points, followed by Uganda and Guinea with 3pts. South Africa is 4th on a point, while Niger comes in last with zero.

In the second game of the day, Uganda and Niger will be playing in a tie-breaker match.
