The 2025 Berlin Marathon is one of the most exciting races of the year. Some of the world’s best long distance runners will be taking the streets of Berlin. If you are unable to make it out on the streets, you can still watch the action.
Fans will be disappointed to learn that Kenenisa and Eliud Bekele, two legendary runners, will not participate in the elite men’s race. This is the first year in over a decade these two legends have not competed in the Berlin Marathon. Ethiopians Tadese Ketema and Tadese Takele will be in Germany, and they are considered to be among the favorites to win the race. Kenyans Kibiwott Kindi and Stephen Kiprop are also two to watch.
In the elite women’s race, another Ethiopian duo – Tigist Keptma and Genzebe Dbaba – are heavily favored to win. There are many great Ethiopian female athletes in the race.

What NN Running Team athletes are running in Berlin?
Zeineba Ymer will be the only female NN Running Team member to run in Berlin. Ethiopian athlete Zeineba Yimer has already shown excellent form in this year, winning the Barcelona Marathon with a time 2:19.44. She will look to run another solid race in Berlin.
Four NN Running Team athletes will be lining up on the starting line for the men’s field. Eliud Kippoge, the fastest man in history, is returning to Berlin.
