Adriano Moraes v Demetrious Johnson 2 MMA

Adriano Moraes v Demetrious Johnson 2 MMA

After Moraes passed the hydration test, Moraes was able to successfully gain weight for his rematch against Johnson.

Moraes failed to pass his first hydration test during Thursday’s official weigh ins. He was not allowed to scale but it was announced that he would be taking a second test on the morning of the event. His first hydration test resulted in a urine specific gravity of 1.0288. This is above the permitted limit of 1.0250. However, his second test was at 1.0057. That’s well below the limit. Officially, he weighed 134.5 pounds.

Johnson passed his hydration exam and was able to successfully make weight on Thursday. He weighed in at 134.75lbs. Both fighters are now weighing in for the rematch of their April 2021 fight for the flyweight title. Moraes won it by second-round knockout.

Above, you can see video of the ceremonial faceoffs and weigh-ins.

After Rodtang Jitmuangnon had to withdraw from the semifinal muay Thai flyweight grand Prix semifinal bout against Savvas Michal, a significant change was made to this card. Panpayak Jitmuangnon will now fight Michael, after initially being scheduled to face Sherzod Kastov in an alternate grand prix bout. Kabutov didn’t provide a sample from his hydration test on Thursday. However, it is unknown if this was why Panpayak was removed from the bout to replace Rodtang. Kabutov is not on the card.

Thursday’s weigh ins revealed that several fighters had issues with their hydration tests and making weight. While some of them were able to resolve the issues before Friday’s deadline (though not all), two were penalized. They will be fighting as catchweights.

Itsuki Hirata was 115 pounds and weighed in at 119.25. She was also marked as failing her hydration test. Heqin forfeits 50% of her purse.

Zebastian Kadestam, a former ONE welterweight (185-pounds) champion, also lost weight. He weighed in at 188.5 pounds when he faced Iuri Laspicus. As a penalty, Kadestam forfeits 30% of his purse.

Watch Covington Vs Masvidal Main Event Live Match – Ufc 272, Tv Channel, Start Time

Covington Vs Masvidal Main Event

The biggest grudge fight in the history of UFC is set to be settled during UFC 272 on Saturday as Welterweights Covington Vs Masvidal take on Jorge Masvidal in the main fight from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Covington as well as Masvidal were friends who were teammates during their time at the American Top Team. At one time, Covington lived with Masvidal for about 8 months. However, things changed rapidly following the time Covington took home the interim title of welterweight against Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 in June of 2018 with Masvidal as his opponent. Like the majority of relationships, friends ended up becoming bitter adversaries due to the money.

Covington declined to pay the Masvidal’s former striker coach Paulino Hernandez the full amount for the fight that he claimed to MMA Junkie that was $17,500. In the end, Covington paid only $5,000 as per Hernandez. Following that, things started getting out of hand with Covington making subtle remarks regarding Masvidal and his children. The fight caused tension at the gymnasium to the point that both were kicked out and Masvidal later being allowed back into the gym.

The accusations have gone between them without a resolution in sight. What is the likelihood that UFC 272 solve their problems?

“The headline for Sunday’s morning will have Jorge Masvidal wins and sends Colby Covington to his funeral,” Masvidal told DAZN News. “I’m going knock him unconscious and then take him off on an ambulance.”

Both have suffered defeats to the world champion Usman. Covington was defeated by Usman by a unanimous decision at UFC 268 in December. Masvidal is the BMF champion is coming off two consecutive defeats to Usman. “Gamebred” lost by an unanimous decision in UFC 251 in July 2020 and the subsequent rematch was at UFC 261 in April via second-round knockout.

This is all you must be aware of UFC 272: Covington vs. Masvidal.
